Choose Your Change (CYC) was originally formed under the name “Lending a Hand and Foot” (LAHAF), pronounced “Laugh” in 2010, in response to a major earthquake in Haiti. We were committed to making a difference. We began by assessing the situation, then building a team of subject-matter experts for emergency medicine, local military protocols, curriculum design, and volunteer training within this country.

A natural disaster does not have to occur for there to be a great need. What about communities that were food deserts, or where medical assistance is too far away, or the effects on a community when a factory closed, or businesses fail? What could we do to help there? That is when LAHAF evolved into Choose Your Change (CYC).
